I have been taking swing classes from a very generous and excellent teacher for the last 8-10 weeks. We have moved from 4 count to 6 count and finally to 8 count swing aka the Lindy Hop. In case you're curious it looks something like the following:
I'm really enjoying the lessons and have been practicing with my wife. One thing we realized right away was good music to practice by can really make a huge difference. So at the recommendation of the instructor I purchase Lionel Hampton:Tempo & Swing
which has an excellent mix of straight up solid swing tunes with a lot of different tempos. In addition to being great dance music it's just really awesome music.
Unfortunately Tempo & Swing isn't readily available new or for download (that I saw) and so I opted to buy it used off an Amazon Seller. I managed to get a copy for $6.95 plus shipping. If you haven't checked him out you should definitely head over to Pandora and punch him in as a seed for a station.
Here is a little smattering of some of his stuff.
